From download to your first trip.
Everything you need to install NextCross and get going.
Install in four steps
- Download on your Android phone.
Open this page on the phone and download the release APK when available.
- Allow installation when Android asks.
For the browser or Files app opening this APK, enable “Allow from this source” if required. Setting names vary by device.
- Install and open NextCross.
If updating, use an APK signed with the same key. If Android rejects an update, contact the project team before uninstalling; uninstalling may remove local reports.
- Grant precise location permission.
Enable device location and connect to the internet for place search, maps and backend features. Return the install-source permission to its previous setting afterward.
Your first trip
Select a starting point and destination. Set your parent contact email and inspect the permitted area.
Review the route, historical crash context and trip conditions. Accept the recording consent before starting.
Start your trip while stationary. The app records GPS samples during the active trip. End the trip after stopping.
Review driving events and optional AI reflections. Open the report and choose to share it. Local reports expire after 10 calendar days.
Historical context and recorded events support discussion. They do not predict crashes or establish unsafe driving. The website demo uses simulated data.
Need help?
The APK will not install
Check Android 7.0 or newer, available storage and whether the download completed. An update must use the same signing key as the installed app.
The map or place search is unavailable
Check internet access and location permissions. Map availability also depends on the release build’s Google Maps configuration.
No events appear after a trip
A short trip or sparse GPS data may produce no qualifying events or insufficient data. This does not certify that the trip was safe or fully observed.
The report email does not arrive
Confirm the saved recipient, use the sharing action and check the inbox and spam folder. Delivery depends on the configured backend. The browser demo sends no email.
